Who Can Access VOW?

VOW supports Black, South Asian, and racially minoritised social work practitioners across the UK who are seeking a reflective and supportive space to think through workplace dilemmas, challenges, inequitable practice, professional identity, and career progression.

VOW also works alongside leaders, teams, and organisations through workshops, supervision, and reflective practice conversations.

Making Contact

Practitioners can contact VOW directly through the website or by email to express interest in 1:1 mentoring support.

Workshops, supervision, and reflective practice sessions can also be commissioned by organisations, managers, supervisors, or professional networks seeking support for teams or practitioners.

Initial Contact

Following initial contact, consideration will be given as to whether VOW is the most appropriate service, and an explanation will be provided regarding how mentoring, supervision, or workshop support is delivered.

Practitioners accessing mentoring support will be asked to complete a short referral questionnaire before sessions begin. Completion of the questionnaire is required before mentoring can commence, as it forms an important part of the mentoring process and helps identify the dilemmas, challenges, strengths, and areas practitioners would like to explore during sessions.

Mentoring Sessions

VOW offers online 1:1 systemic mentoring support. Practitioners are usually offered between one and three sessions depending on individual needs and service capacity. Sessions typically last one hour and may take place weekly or monthly by agreement.

VOW aims to provide a reflective, strengths-based, and confidential space where practitioners feel supported to think things through and develop realistic strategies for moving forward.

Service Boundaries

VOW is not a counselling, psychotherapy, advocacy, crisis, or emergency service. Where additional or specialist support is required, practitioners may be signposted to other appropriate services.

Workshops & Supervision

Workshops and supervision can be arranged directly with VOW and tailored to the needs of organisations, teams, or individuals.

Fees for workshops, supervision, and organisational consultancy are available on request and will vary depending on the nature and scope of the work involved.
